Beyond manually backing up a copy of my vault I wasn't planning to take any other steps, the other steps happened one by one. Honestly I didn't plan to do all that myself either. If new plugin versions don't work with the old version of Obsidian I'm on? No worries I have a backup of my entire plugin folder. This way if Obsidian breaks something in a new version or suddenly becomes a paid app or just closes down their website? No worries I can install the old one from scratch. 6) Repeat from step 2 for the new version you updated to.5) Each time a new version of Obsidian comes out, read the changelog and see if you want it (and ideally give it a day or two to read what others have to say about it first), then download it.4) Copy the plugins folder from your Obsidian vault and stick it in the same folder as your backup and the installer for.3) Download the installer or archive for that specific version from (That way you can reinstall that version if you ever need to move your vault to a new computer or something) and save it alongside any backups you take of your vault, so that you can install the exact right version you need.2) Check what version of Obsidian you're on.How am I doing that?
